The Sucking Truth

The truth isn't always pretty, but we can ignore or accept it and move forward. It still catches up to us.

We've all heard the whistling through the trees

Then comes the rumbling, and the grounds will shake

We've all felt the trembling around us bring us to our knees

Would the Earth open and with it, its we, it does take

-

Flash and boom, and something is gone in the blink

Homes crumble and bury while buildings tumble and dust rolls

Not a moment's notice and no time for you to think

It was the will of someone else, and the horseman collecting souls

-

There are always signs that nobody chooses to follow

An idea or belief that doesn't sit well with all

And things are missed while living in the hollow

It all sits there as those people are about to fall

-

Now the fire rages inside you, knowing what you've done

Once, you were thought to be the invincible hero

Only one lesson was what it took to know you weren't the one

And it's how the world's always been, spinning down to zero

-

Time was never on your side

How foolish you could have been not to see

Living with too much foolish pride

Eventually, seeing that forever and you were never meant to be

-

So put aside your foolish pride

And make a choice that's true

Do your best to enjoy the ride

Because your time's coming earlier than you wanted it to

Why is it that time seems to come too soon for so many still passionately living while patiently biding its time for those already long gone?
