Views Through The Glass

It feels like forever, but it goes by so fast.

It did not exist, a moment in time for all to shine

There were no easy roads taken by the brave and young

Pain and suffering, worth the fighting we have done

And always we were, wild, free, and on the run

-

Sat not long at any given time, did we

Too much to do and filled with vigor

Stopped dead in our tracks were we

When it's the right one, we bow to thee

-

With childish abandon and sweat on our brow

Conquered as much as could be taken

The amassing of more power and money

Deeply regretting the things we believed were funny

-

Always glowing or filled with energy that abounds

We ran through the world with excitement

Never knowing the origin of that sound was us

Only enjoying the things over which we made such a fuss

-

First it was our loves that filled our hearts and minds

Thinking of all that was possible and before our time

Not knowing what was true and what was waiting to take us down

Ending up with a world of pain and years with a frown

-

Dusted off and at it again, we were always going to be

Lessons learned by some, and others jumped into the fray blindly

We moved through the days under the noses of all

Knowing again, we would eventually fall

-

Take any of it back, those of us chosen would not

For we lived an unabashed life with joy

Now, behind the looking glass, we remember it so much

Long since forgotten by human touch

-

Behind the looking glass, the forsaken ones must go

Dreaming of one more day in the sun

Behind the looking glass, waiting for winter snow

Imagining one more day of fun before we go

-

Enjoy the time, my children

For it goes by so fast

And with one final sigh

This day might be the last

-

If you liked that, consider a Kofi with me.
