The steps that lead to nowhere

They always bring us back to us

The steps that lead to nowhere

The steps that lead to nowhere

always bring you back to me.

We try to part but just can’t—

we’re happy being you and me.

No pressure, no hold, no lovers’ tiffs,

no jealousy or hate,

yet I know if we separate,

sooner or later, we’re at each other’s gate.

We always say we’re higher than lovers

and way higher than friends.

From the first day that we met,

this was be more than just good friends.

The steps that we take that lead to nowhere—

at the top of one, down at the other side—

things will always be the same for us;

we run back from the other side.

I would say this is stronger than love

and so much more than friends.

We’re joined in a circle of infinity,

more than lovers, and we will never end.
