There lived a man in a cramped abode
Whose longing for a snake was told
He'd been keen to have it as his pet
And oft would dream of it, you bet
But his roommate, ah, what a scene
Had a phobia, that could not be seen
Snakes made his skin start to crawl
And shrieks and shivers, he'd give them all
The man was torn, what could he do?
His love for snakes and friend he knew
In time, he came across a snake
A tiny one, for his own sake
He thought, perhaps his friend won't mind
A little snake, of a gentle kind
So home he brought it, with care
And placed it in its cage, so fair
But as he turned to bask in pride
His friend, oh what, did he decide?
He sprang with fear, and ran away
Leaving the man, with a snake to stay
The man, alone, with a snake at last
Found solace in its presence, fast
Its gentle ways, he'd often find
And peace, his troubled heart could bind.
