The Slope

For when you're throwing it all away for revenge

Slip slide down

The inevitable slope

With your hands out in the darkness

For a handhold you will grope

But the slip is not an option

The slide is just a truth

And despite your desperate searching

There is no way out for you

I've waited at the edge of this

Alone for quite some time

Guiding you along your path

Until your path was mine

You thought you saw the light ahead

'Twas I that held the curtain

You fought for what you thought well earned

But all suns set for certain

Realization sinks into your chest

Like teeth beneath your skin

Squirming in with sharper bite

You remember where they've been

It's easy now

You recognize

The reason for

Familiar eyes

Now your hands are trapped tight in mine

I'll bring us down the slope
