The Silent Thunders of Freedom

A Reflection on the Cost of Liberty

How much is the construction of liberty?

In shadows where silence seems to reign,

You can still hear the clangor of a nation’s silent thunders.

Which ear is tuned to listen to the paw?

Regaining rights, they’re pressed to seize them.

--

From kingdoms low to kingdoms high,

They lifted songs and bellowed to the sky.

With might and blood, and bitter tears,

Aims—to fight back hate, to conquer fears.

--

The banner they carried, the creed they declared,

For independence, for more—just desire.

That one standing might exist free,

Choosing their lives, their fates in unity.

--

Through hardship, on the battlefield, in the ocean’s embrace,

They laid down even shadows so we would be—

A society intrepid, a society fair,

Whose deeds honor the promises they wear.

--

Yet freedom's price should not be paid in vain,

In the chaos of normalcy, they’ve forged peace.

With every step, each action made,

Their light shines on, through the course we pave.

--

So let us accept what they presented,

The dull empire, the placeholder, the empty rapid.

Where faith endures and courage stands,

A pain-less heart whole, ready to march again.
