The Silent Hunter
Taking Inspiration From A Creation By Anna and the Willow
Introduction
This is inspired by a piece by Anna and The Willow called "Silent Hunter III" which you can see here.
I first came into contact with Anna with her amazing "Huntress" in Skipton Castle Woods which you can read about at the end of this poem.
I have decided to use the villanelle format for this poem.
The Silent Hunter

Death Swoops Silently From The Sky
Creatures Run But They Cannot Hide
The Night Owl's Claws Lock On Their Prey

In Fields And Hedges Rats And Mice
Looking For Food, Eyes Open Wide
Death Swoops Silently From The Sky

Run And Hide, Then Try To Survive
To Know You Are Prey, Soon To Die
The Night Owl's Claws Lock On Their Prey

Up In The Air, The Owl Wil Spy
The Night's Sustenance, Flying By
Death Swoops Silently From The Sky

Death From Above, Down From On High
One More Small Creature Now Must Die

Silent Hunter, Warm Meat Supply
Rats, Mice, And More, Blood Never Dries

I Am Save And Cozy At Home, Though It Is Very Cold And Windy Out Of Doors, It Is Very Slippy Underfoot So One Has to Be Very Careful Where You Put Your Foot And Wear Sturdy Treaded Boots Visors Are Advised To Protect Your Eyes Against The Driving Snow Wait Until The Roads Are Clearer If You Can, But Sometimes You Have To Brave The Arctic Weather "X" Marks The Place On The Map That Is Your Ultimate Destination You Need to Wrap Up And Take Care As You Take On The Siberian Conditions With Snowfall, But At Least It's Not Permafrost Zero And Less Degrees Is The Temperature That You Have To Deal With, Otherwise The Snow Will Freeze You

Getting Serious About Comedy (Part I)
If I were asked to remark on my life and the childhood that paved some road leading me to this point, I would have to say something about all the funny people who surrounded me for the last 26,872 days (and counting). Somewhere along that road, I became a big fan of laughter and the comedy that spawns it โ and, I mean not only my own laughter, but the laughter of others, some of which I have actually been responsible for inducing.

Oooo, I loved how ominous this was! Very well done Mike!
Not to mention small cats. We had one that somehow managed to escape, but not before the owl had given it a good puncture wound which required a vet's care. Still like owls, though, & this is a very fine tribute, Mike.
I loved your poem, Mike. I love the owl. The Night Owl was the first challenge on Vocal that I entered.
