The Silence After You

I didn’t want my silence to hurt you, too

By UsamaPublished 7 months ago 1 min read

You came

like an old song in the middle of silence,

like someone gently pressing on a wound

not to hurt

but to remind me

It still existed.

I stayed quiet

because when words pass through the heart,

they either turn into prayers

or curses.

And I didn’t want my silence to hurt you, too.

You touched me

and it felt like a forgotten dream finally opened its eyes.

But dreams… are still dreams.

They vanish at sunrise,

and you…

You belonged to another morning.

I trusted

myself,

you,

and maybe fate.

But trust is like soft soil

It caves in before your feet can take root.

You left

and something inside me shattered

in a way that words cannot mend.

I still breathe

But I don’t live.

I move through the days

like an old clock that still ticks,

but has forgotten how to tell time.

Now I understand

Love isn’t just about holding on.

It’s about letting go.

About learning.

Some people come to you as prayers.

and leave you as lessons.
