THE SEEDS ONCE SOWN

And my garden grew

** ** ** **

Of all the things I’ve done on earth,

The greatest thing was giving birth.

My sons are grown, hard-working men –

But I remember way back when

They were learning how to walk

And soon after, began to talk.

**

School age came. I had to learn

Time with them, I had to earn.

With sports and scouts and friends to see,

At times there was no time for me.

I watched them grow, my sons – my life.

Emotions soared – each took a wife.

**

I laughed, I cried, but always smiled

At the happiness I saw within each child.

From long ago the seeds once sown

They now have children of their own.

Of all the things I’ve done earth,

Yes, the greatest thing was giving birth.
