The Season Of Lights

A Poem

It feels like midnight, though it’s only 5

The world’s gone dark, but everywhere there is light

*

Against the black sky and snow covered ground

Iridescent colors shine all around

*

Homes all covered with strings of twinkling lights

Draped across roofs and lampposts outside

*

Filling windows, adorning the streets

In shapes of snowmen and candy canes, and covering trees

*

Flares of light, and vivid hues

Of reds, greens, yellows, and blues

*

Like a thousand miniature suns

All melding together as one

*

Sprawling across the jet atmosphere

Illuminating the night like stars, so sheer

*

These vibrant lights now taking the place

Of the Earth’s spring blooms and autumn leaves

*

As the world grows colder, and its colors fade,

Lighting our way through these darker days

*

Not only lighting the blackened skies

But reigniting the light in our eyes

*

This is such a beautifully vivid piece, the way you describe light becoming its own season feels both nostalgic and uplifting. It captures that winter magic that makes everything feel brighter, even on the darkest days. Annie from the SoftlyWished team,

The contrast between the fading seasons and the brightness of the lights is so well crafted. It's a beautiful reminder that even in the coldest days, there is still light, joy and hope.

This is such a vibrant poem about what is frankly my favorite part of this time of the year! I love the idea of being able to see the lights in the atmosphere, as well as the lights taking place of nature’s blooms and fallen leaves. Well done, and congrats on the top story!
