The Rainbow Pearl

A Poem

By Arielle IrvinePublished 5 years ago 1 min read

I am like

green irises

In a sea of

brown and blue

Rare, yet I exist.

Like a pearl

found in the bed

of the ocean

I gleam and

glisten

but only with

special care.

I require love

attention

and patience;

most wouldn’t

care to put

the effort in.

But I am

whole now.

I’ve found

the one

who brings out

my brilliant hues.

The yellow

orange red

fire that burns

within me

brighter than

the sun.

The gray

blue sparkle

in my eyes

like violet

midnight skies on

the horizon.

The eggshell

whiteness of

my imperfect

skin that

brings light

even on

the darkest

nights.

The reddish

blonde tone

of my long

frayed hair

that rests

like a crown

atop my head.

I can shine

upon the world

with or without

this special care,

But I perform

best under

the pressure

of life

and love

and the

promise of

forever.

About the Creator

Arielle Irvine

I’m a lover of words and how they’re arranged. Though I’ve never felt like an amazingly talented writer, I hope you will find my works to be moving and thoughtful, perhaps even beautiful.
