In the darkened night I see him walking towards me.

The face of a man that is very haunting.

His desire to take me away from those that love me

is terrifying in itself,

yes,

very daunting.

I’m unsure of what to think of what he’s proposing

for he will give me more time if I surrender my soul

and perform his ghastly duties.

With iron smelling breath he demands a response

if I don’t want to accept then its off with my heart.

My mind wants to refuse and be done with this earth,

but the draw of you is strong and I yearn

for more of your touch and more of your voice

to flood into my head, making it all alright.

“You have no time left on this planet,

you have no future with that woman.

You will be my slave or food for the worms

there is no choice

besides the one I have presented.”

The voice of the thing shakes the ground

there is nothing I can do but stare it down.

Penetrating eyes, red and brown

a thin black veil coming down from the blackened gold crown

resting on the thorns coming from his brow.

There is no nose, only a darkened hole.

The lips are also thin and let show

a mouthful of blood with pointed teeth that scare me so.

“What will it be? Servitude to the deep,

with everlasting life, no laws or rules, only delight!

Or do you choose death, please, tell me you don’t!”

The eyes of the devil sparkle at me, a deal he wants struck

how special is me!

Instead of answering I turn on the spot

I walk away laughing unable to stop.

I know what is coming, the price he said I’ll pay.

The end of my time is upon me this day.
