Today my grandchildren and I saw a beautiful rainbow. As I looked at the image we captured (below) a poem I wrote around 1980 came to mind.

God gave it to Noah

As a ray of hope

Sunshine after the storm

The light

At the end of the tunnel

Reflecting the fact that

Never again will the world

Be destroyed by a flood

The radiant rainbow

A promise of love

I wrote this for a poetry contest where I won an honorable mention. I was offered the opportunity for my poem to be showcased in a book for a price. I declined. This was a ruse because I entered other poetry contests where I did not win any of thr cash prizes but my poem was so special they wanted it in a book ( for a fee). If it was so good then why did I not win any money? I’m thankful to be able to share my poem with Vocal readers.

I’m so elated that my poem came to mind today. Anyone not familiar with the origin of the rainbow can find it in the Bible in Genesis chapter 9.

Thank you for reading.

I refuse to pay anyone to put my poetry or stories into print. If they want them, then they will pay for them, in the same way I pay to promote my books.
