The Playlist of This Lonely Season
more important than the sun

Not sure I ever mentioned it —
no, i can't ...
but I once missed you so much —
say it because ...
that I prayed for the sun to delay —
this truth changes...
its labor so we'd have one more hour —
everything that's worth ...
on the drive when we laughed so hard I cried —
remembering, just right, ...
and you fell asleep in my passenger seat —
and entirely easy ...
and instead of the airport, I wanted to —
and if you ...
take you back to that field where we —
knew how weak ...
would weave crowns out of daisies —
your eager journey ...
and declare each other queens —
has made me, ...
and rather than safer silence —
even more distance ...
I wish this confession came sooner —
could grow here ...
reality feels pointless in the wake —
where emptiness aches ...
of your long-dreaded departure, and my —
but if i ...
once playful cries have become the playlist —
don't say it, ...
of this lonely season, when echoes —
you won't know ...
are much warmer than here and now —
this careful soul ...
it burns to say it, but I'll try to dream —
had so carelessly ...
that you are living your —
loved someone more ...
happiest era in the —
important than the ...
sun — sun ...

Hello, wanderer.
It's good to see you again.
This poem is for the I Didn’t Say That Out Loud challenge. It was a treat to use interline poetry for this piece. I'm curious, how did you experience it? Bold first and then italics? Or did you go back and forth? Let me know in the comments!
xoxo, for now
-your friend, lost in the interlines

Loved it! I read it one line after the other - saw your notes - and then went back and read bold first then italics. Never read a poem like that before, but stunning work. Again, good to have you back, wanderer. 😁 And best of luck in the challenge with all your amazing entries!
This poem's emotions are intense. Reminds me of times when words got stuck. I felt it all at once, not in a back-and-forth way.
