The Peppermint Pretender
A Poem on Embracing Change
We’re used to what we’re used to - and gravitate to comfortable circumstances. But this holiday, let’s step out of that comfort zone and welcome the new.
The Old Peppermint Man may surprise you with tastes sweeter than you imagine.
***********************************************************
In the candy shop’s warmth, he greets,
In shades of green and red,
With Promises of peppermint sweet,
And loaves of stollen bread.
***********************************************************
But under his joyful yuletide coat.
He’s more than what he seems,
Sweet cocoa, marshmallow afloat,
New tastes so bold yet keen.
***********************************************************
For those who come and yearn for mint
He is a playful nudge,
A reminder in each bite within
To welcome newness’ touch
***********************************************************
Now throw the wrapper, find the joy
In tastes you did not seek
Some tastes will tease, some will toy
And some will bold tongue meet.
***********************************************************
You may cry, may laugh or turn
At the old Mint Man’s surprise
But from Him we’ll always learn
Of new tastes in chocolate guise.
