Ruminations

For a moment
wonder and ponder
on the times that have long since passed
that remain in the past
their mark on us and how they shaped us
is all that remains
replaying in our minds
In sleeping and waking dreams
*
For a moment
meditate and ruminate
on the people who've passed us by
who left this mortal soil
their mark is all that remains
echoing in the distance
on the breeze
in the quiet of the night
While we sleep

This was so beautiful Sir Paul! Evoked a lot of emotions in me!
Yes! You are so right and beautifully stated. We are a combination of years and people who have been in our lives. Morals, beliefs, old wives wisdom, and stories passed down to us. ๐
Well written poem!
You've created a lot of depth here with simple thoughts, well penned. Also a fitting reminder for our day of remembrance here. Well, done, Paul!
This makes me think of my loved ones gone too soon, thank you ๐ฅน
I love this, so simple but so clever. The symmetry of both verses is powerful ๐
