The Orator

He's still living on dreams

and out of an empty suitcase

every other weekend,

new faces, and a new place.

They say struggles make the heart grow stronger,

yet, his barely limps along

after decades of overabundance.

New faces & new places, week after week

the happy lookin’ heart broke man just can’t understand

why they would travel, just to hear him speak.

They all know his name

and his message is the same,

yet, the people still pay

to get a listen.

Week, after week, after week they'll claim

'hell fella- it is what it is, till it ain’t – get over it man.'

While tilting hungry ears

& stretching' dirty necks to get a hear

Of our happy lookin’ heart broke man

beating out his sorrows

all wrapped up in rhythmic speak.

heartbreak
