The Only Light In My Life

Says "Lonestar Beer Served Here"

By Julie O'Hara - Author, Poet and Spiritual WarriorPublished 5 years ago Updated 2 years ago 1 min read

V-1

The atmosphere, when I come in here, suits me just fine.

I come to drown my sorrow and try and ease my mind.

But once in a while, I’ll fake a smile, like the pain has gone away.

And I drink another one to her – hoping her memory will fade.

V-2

She used to be my guiding light; my reason to go home.

But now home does seem so nice since I’m all alone.

And each night it gets harder for me to face the fact.

That my baby’s gone and left me and won’t be coming back.

CH:

The only light in my life says, “Lone Star Beer Served Here.”

The one that shines behind the bar lighting up my tears.

Glowing brightly, reminding me nightly, my baby’s nowhere near.

The only light in my life says, “Lone Star Beer Served Here.”

V-3

I spend my nights dropping quarters in the jukebox for our song.

And the numbered buttons remind me how the love we shared went wrong.

Now the one that I’ve been living for don’t need me anymore.

And it’s all I can do to face the heartaches lying in store.

Repeat CH:
