The Ones Who Stay Are Friends
True honest kind, they will lead you safety home

The Ones Who Stay Are Friends
Be careful who you let in close,
Not every smile is what it shows
Some will nod and play the part,
While holding razors to your heart.
But once in a while, someone stays,
Doesn’t flinch when you lose your way.
Keeps your secrets, tells no one,
Holds their fire, won’t point a gun.
They don’t ask why, they don’t explain,
They don’t sit high, they don’t complain.
They cover your shame, they stand their ground,
Even when no one else’s around.
That kind of soul is hard to find.
Not loud, not bright, not one of a kind.
Just quiet good behind their eyes.
A true friend holds your smallest lies.
They won’t repeat the things you said,
Or twist your words once you’ve turned your head.
They’ll take the hit, they’ll share the load,
And walk with you down any road.
So guard your trust, but if it’s earned,
Let it burn slow, let it be learned.
For those who stay when all goes wrong—
They’re quiet, steady, and they’re strong.

I've been writing poetry since the age of fourteen. With pen in hand, I wander through realms unseen. The pen holds power; ink reveals hidden thoughts. A poet may speak truth or weave a tale. You decide. Let pen and ink capture your mind❤️

You have hit the nail on the head, Marie. These qualities are difficult to find in people, but when they are found, they are priceless.
I've lost "friends" throughout the years but I doubt they were friends
We have to be careful, especially ''Vocal friends'' it shows behind stink. Be careful*. For almost one month, I took medicine, and a very interesting poem, we have to keep good friends.
Enjoyed reading this!
Def need to be careful about who you let in your inner circle. <3
Exactly what a friend should be. Good job.
