The New Mobility Scooter

I rode my horse down Market Street,

With wheels instead of clumsy feet,

No neigh or sound to break the peace,

Yet heads still turned, some gasped, some froze.

Its metal hooves went clip and clop,

I parked it neatly at the shop,

A basket strapped for fruit and bread,

And not a flake of hay was shed.

The children stared, their jaws hung wide,

“Is that a robot horse?” they cried,

I tipped my hat and gave a wink,

“My ride runs smoothly, it don’t you think.

No carrots needed, oats ignored,

This charger’s power’s fully stored,

A press, a swipe, a quiet glide,

While others walk — I trot with pride.

The rain came down, but did I care?

My trusty horse just tossed its hair,

Through puddles deep, we boldly sped,

A clever horse with wheels instead.

So if you see me passing by,

Upon my horse both boldly I fly

Don’t ask its breed, just step aside,

And watch us trot a perfect ride.

Charming and funny. Do these really exist? Cool if they do.

Such a beautiful poem and its cool you got inspiration from a Facebook picture.

  • Hi Marie, I love how you ride confidently, embracing the technology while capturing the curiosity of onlookers, particularly children. I felt the poem playfully contrasts the robotic horse with traditional horses, celebrating its quiet power and reliability, even in the rain. Great work!
