My Self Portrait Gone Wrong

Or maybe it should not to have been drawn at all ha ha

My First Attempt at a Self-Portrait

I set the mirror on the table’s edge,

pencil poised like it knew my face,

Yet the lines betrayed me,

a nose too sharp, a mouth too wide,

eyes like mismatched buttons

staring back with quiet disbelief.

My hand wobbled,

and suddenly my chin was a cliff,

my forehead a hill

too steep to belong to me.

The eyebrows?

Well, let’s not speak of those.

I tried again,

softer this time,

but the page just laughed,

as if it knew

I couldn’t sketch

what I barely recognized.

Maybe it wasn’t the pencil’s fault

or the mirror’s cruel tricks —

perhaps my face

was never meant for paper,

Nor me a budding Artist

Or maybe not to be drawn at all what do you think ha ha 🤣
