The moment I saw you

face to face, no escape

The moment I saw you

And looked into your eyes

Joy & delight filled me

And my feet caught a giggle

Poised, composed, I steadied my gaze

My knees almost folding

That glimpse of you watching

gave my heart wings

My breath escaped my lips

With a gasp of pure astonishment

Reveling in your attention

I ascended the ramp

You blocked my path

And I clutched your arm

in spontaneous ecstasy

Your question probed my longing

So still, such silence

Applause, applause

I think you’re wonderful

I wanted to snap your picture

but I’ve been duly warned

Then face to face, no escape

So captivated, magnetic your eyes

Your brown eyes

Elated… my news burst forth

A river of bliss

I strained to hear every letter you uttered

your name could not pass my lips

or my secret would have filled the room

like Chanel perfume

These moments will glow in my solitude

like warm firelight

Clasping each slippery second

already trying to fade

love poems
