The Mirror Is Talking, Not Me...

The mirror is talking to me... -again. I don't want to listen, but I cant avoid my own reflection. It's a shame we don't get along too often, I hope that won't be forever.

Well, well‐

I see you're back, again.

Sooo- What now?

Is this what you expected to see?

No?

Wow...

So, how does it feel?

To be rejected.

To have every wish, neglected‐

even as the only fish in the sea.

All you've ever wanted,

still, dangling over your head‐

To see reels of all your regrets,

replayed right before you.

To see all the remorse of all that's come from you,

stare you in the eye.

To see all you've fought for,

fall apart, right in front of you‐

To see every brick, of every wall you built,

lay at your feet.

The pieces you see,

of this peace-less, patience-less land you stand in‐

You glued them together.

You glare into the mirror like you can't stand it, but‐

Don't you know?

This is who you made me to be‐

I know, I'm not what you wanted me to be,

but this is ultimately your doing.

Disappointed, are you?

Don't tell me you didn't see‐

Who, did you think you were fooling?

You look at me like I'm not YOUR own reflection‐

and you stand before me, knowing that it's YOUR value that always needs proving‐

THAT'S what these walls have been shouting to you.

You've reaped in these walls,

now, you must sow in their debris‐

About the Creator

Josh Morgan

Personally, writing began as a creative outlet, to be a means of processing and venting emotion, but it has become so much more. Something I want not to be just relatable, enjoyable and a good read, but to reach someone who is in need.
