The Midnight Hunt

Summoning The Pantheon

By Kelsey ClareyPublished about a year ago โ€ข 1 min read

The full moon shines brightly in the late Summer sky

as meteors shoot like arrows from a bow.

A coyote's distant howl echoes from the

mountain and its trees. I imagine

Artemis leading her hunters

on the chase, as Orion

watches from his place in

the stars, til brother

Apollo brings

the dawn and

ends the

hunt.

Firstly, let me apologise for being so late to read this, I wanted to be in the right head space to read the poems and for most of September I wasn't ... Second ... WOW! This was amazing! Thank you for entering such an amazing poem to my challenge! The imagery in this was spectacular, and the use of the hunt and night and day ... brilliant! ๐Ÿฉท

I love how you have woven myth into the poem as well as reminding us that Artemis and Apollo are siblings. Great work!

I love how you incorporated not only Artemis and Apollo but also Orion into this poem. It shows a great knowledge of the Greek myths that you based the poem on and adds a subtle level of romance and longing to it. Well done.
