The Memories I Choose

Instructions for Disappearing

By Julie LacksonenPublished 5 months ago Updated 5 months ago 1 min read

Love drifted in

Like a gentle, early summer breeze,

Warm and inviting

After a lonely swim

In chilly water.

I choose to remember you this way.

Laughs and snuggles

Burned away the emptiness of living alone.

Hand in hand, we faced challenges.

Heart to heart, we talked about everything under the sun.

I choose to remember you this way.

Then, you disappeared, invisible to all.

Your soul, left behind, sustains me.

I don’t see you. I feel you.

You have become the warm, inviting breeze,

Leaving me with memories of laughter and snuggles.

I choose to remember you this way.
