How many masks do you have?

I have too many to count.

I lost track a while ago.

Oh well.

I can try & help you count yours.

One for your mom.

One for your dad.

One for your friends from high school.

One for your childhood bestie.

One for your coworkers.

One for the people you want to be your friends.

One for your “friends”.

One for your enemies.

One for the people that you despise.

One for that cute person you want to impress.

One for the girl nextdoor.

One for the one that got away.

A mask for every color on the spectrum.

A mask for every day of the week.

A mask for every outfit in your closet.

A mask for every emotion you have ever felt.

A mask for every thought you have ever had.

Am I the only one who finds it tiring,

Having so many masks?

I don’t think masks are inherently bad,

I do think they can be used, abused and misconstrued.

But not good, not bad, not anything.

They just exist like a fact of life.

But it is quite tiring,

having all of these masks.

Has anyone figured out how to have less masks?

How to wear one mask for multiple occasions?

One mask for all of the emotions

One mask for all of the thoughts

One mask for all of the friends, enemies, lovers, impacters

One for every color on the spectrum and every day of the week

I wonder if someone has figured it out yet.

and then I wonder

what their mask

looks like,

feels like.

Tell me.

What are the secrets

behind your mask?
