She looked up from her sewing, setting aside the thimble.

The people around her were eating slices of melon,

though she herself grabbed only a hamburger.

Some people were trying to solve the mystery

of what had happened to all the lemonade

as everyone else enjoyed sitting around the fire.

Later, they roasted marshmallows over the embers of the fire.

She looked around for her thimble

as the search continued for the missing lemonade.

They continued to devour what was left of the melon

even as she continued to try to solve her own mystery.

She decided to finish her search after she finished her hamburger.

She quickly ate the rest of her hamburger

and happened to look into the fire.

She had solved one mystery.

In the heart of the fire lay her thimble,

though no one noticed as they continued to eat the melon

or continued to look for any sign of the lemonade.

But, of course, they were not able to find the elusive lemonade.

There still was left, for anyone who wanted it, one hamburger.

Her “friends” continued to chow down on melon

while sitting around the warm semi-fire.

She continued to stare at the slowly melting thimble

while others gave up on solving the other mystery.

“I found the lemonade! I’ve solved the mystery!”

came a cry. But too soon. There was no lemonade.

No one paid attention to her or her thimble

while still waiting on the table lay the hamburger.

She sat, staring, slowly going blind from the fire

as people continued to slowly finish off the melon.

Who cared about the stupid melon?!

Or the missing lemonade mystery!?

Her only treasure lay in the slowly burning fire.

Why did they care so much about lemonade?

Why not the last, lone hamburger

or her slowly dying thimble?

People continued to eat the melon

as she pondered over her own mystery

And stared into the dying fire.
