The Laughing Donkey
The donkey grins, his teeth shine white.
The field is still, the air holds back.
His mouth is wide, his voice erupts.
A laugh so loud, it shakes the ground.
The cows look on, their eyes are blank.
The birds take wing, the dogs retreat.
The laugh rolls out, it climbs the sky.
The donkey rules, with crooked joy.
The sound is sharp, it bends the ears.
It twists the heart, it cracks the stone.
The children run, the farmers stare.
The donkey laughs, and will not stop.
The sun leans down, it warms his skin.
His shadow leaps, across the grass.
His teeth still flash, his voice still breaks.
The donkey sings, his savage song.
By night he laughs, the stars grow dim.
The moon turns pale, the foxes hide.
The fields are cursed, the air is wrong.
The donkey laughs, and laughs, and laughs.
Some say his mirth, is not of earth.
A demon hides, behind his eyes.
A joy too wild, a grin too wide.
The donkey laughs, forevermore.

I love your animal poems. They are always so light-hearted and easy reading, and you can't help but smile.
This is really a humorous piece of writing. What made this donkey laugh so much? Good job.
