The Lake

Frosted Verse, reversed

As he pierced through the freezing ice,

his skates clutched tightly to his chest, gasping for air.

Submerged in the frigid water,

he released his final breath.

---

He waved goodbye to his dad

in the morning, as the snow fell gently around him.

He went to school, unaware that it would be the last time

he set foot in the place he once called home.

---

Sliding on the thin ice,

double checked by his dad the night before.

The low temperature can't hold for long,

as it is the eternal law of nature.

---

His eyes were a piercing shade of ice-cold blue,

while his mouth resembled the colour of a purple cherry cake.

With every breath he took, laden with heaviness,

it seemed as if the surrounding air was being drained of life, rushing out of him.

---

Set free from the embrace of the earth, water and flames,

a new life awakens within the body.

Immersed in the refreshing flavours,

cleansed along the shores of the tranquil lake.

---

Fire brigades quickly arrived,

positioning a ladder against the treacherous water.

The crowd gasped in unison, their warm concern

palpable through their unwieldy breaths.

---

Some will be saved, while others will be lost,

no one dares to inquire about the reasons and methods.

Whenever the parent's head lifts,

ignorance dissipates like a sudden flurry of snowflakes.

---
