The Ideal

Poem by Matthew Chatfield

By Matthew KirkPublished 5 years ago Updated 4 years ago 1 min read

Can I, be you? Reach You?

Actualised

Arrest myself in your state?

I dreamt you up, a mirage that shimmers in constant flux

I cannot anticipate you, nor what you may become tomorrow

But it's not enough to put me off

From trying to fly too close

Because my favourite place is where you left me

On the edge of my seat

Fathoming the unattainable

Attaining the guts to try

To embody the incomprehensible

A chameleon that transforms

Under each mind's eye

Beheld to one true form

Known only to The Knower

An image that burns so bright

There you sit, in my throne

I am. Seduced by your light

My Supernova.
