A spark of an idea that barely ignites
yet I sense it
A genius idea that's tip of the tongue
reach out for it, almost grasping
The idea is faint, only its shadow I sense
but just as a shadow it stays close
yet just out of reach
I don't know what it is but I know I will like it
As soon as I catch it, I will show the world and others will too
And then the idea falls right in front of me
vivid in color and clear as crystal
I feel a surge of inspiration as the idea dances around me
beckoning me forward, getting close enough to touch
I reach out to touch it but don't bother to grab it
With an idea so vivid and clear to the mind
I will remember this idea
How could I forget?
The idea begins to fade
becoming dimmer and dimmer
until it disappears for good
I wait in patience
in vanity for its return
I search across the highest mountain
the most rugged terrain
hoping to catch that one idea among a sea of others
but the idea is never found
And then another idea just as vivid
just as genius and inspiring
falls right at my feet
I scoop it up, grasp it tight
And I'll never let this one go

I’ve learned the hard way that whenever a good idea pops into your head, always jot it down — even if you’re sure you’ll remember it later (especially then!). The feeling of knowing you had an idea but not being able to remember what it was is the worst! I loved your poem!
Beautiful and profound!
