Our Cosmic Journey

On our home planet midst trees, and deserts, mountains, and valleys

we feel the peacefulness of Earth each time we look up

at the cloud filled blue sky in the daytime, the starry sky at night

and often we forget

our home planet

a marble sphere of green and blue swirled with wisps of white

hurls through the galaxy

Our long time companion, the moon, along for the ride

transcending through a shared cosmic path

of asteroids, our rocky neighbors of the asteroid belt

From those as small as pebbles to those of epic mass

We hurl past star clusters - millions of stars!

past massive explosions of supernovas

We transcend across the galaxy with other planetary wonders

from rusty red Mars to ring possessing Saturn

from small and rocky mercury to the unfathomably massive Jupiter

All this and still we forget

our home planet

a marble sphere of green and blue swirled with wisps of white

hurls through the galaxy

And we're all along for the ride!
