The Heart Remembers
Sensory Overload

I’ve felt the ache of longing for a place, no longer in existence
The echo of that silence haunts like voices down the hall
The intensity of sorrow, as palpable as burning bridges - an overwhelming sense of scent and smell
My bitter tears taste of regret, for a moment lost to me in time
As I’m attempting to preserve the memory of when my eyes held you the last time

Send hugs for this emotional set of lines
You’ve written a very relatable poem. I think that we’ve all had this feeling, this longing for something or someone that will never come back again. I love the line “The intensity of sorrow, as palpable as burning bridges - an overwhelming sense of scent and smell”; it really brings that sorrow to life. Well done.
This is quite an emotional poem. Good work.
I know how that feels. Beautifully said.
I feel the same way now, reminiscing about my school friends and the moments we spent together in school. Those memories still evoke a special feeling in me. That's a great poem! It's special
