Shadowed fingers of memory
trace my name on your pillow
as you dream.
Skeletons of memories
are playing hide and seek with your demons
You spent all night
trying to drown them
with my favorite whiskey.
You’ve covered every mirror
cause you still see me in your eye
Keeping all the curtains drawn
trying to retain some light.
You patched all the holes
and buried the bones,
but when it’s weeds you sow
It’s all you’ll reap.
My icy translucent palms
press against your cheeks
until you awaken drenched in sweat
terrified you thought you saw me.
I hope you say may name in your sleep
forever.
