The Hands Who Create

A Poem

Deep in the bones of our hands,

Lies the urge to create,

Whether through paint, pen, paper, or clay.

***

Shaping the seeds of our imaginations,

Our hands form sculptures, books, buildings, and more,

Bringing our thoughts into the world.

***

We can try to ignore the impulse,

Letting others do the work while we stand back and watch,

But we will always give in and make something.

***

Whether flawed or perfect.

We continue to create,

Hoping to leave behind something worth remembering before we’re gone.
