I sit in silent meditation,
Cupping my ear
So I might hear
The rumble of a new revelation!
<>
Will it come from the frozen ground
Or will the clouds open
And give me hope in
Life and love with a clarion sound?
<>
I sit here looking grim to passers-by
While children wile away
The day with laugh and play,
They think I die inside, sigh and cry.
<>
But no! Hark! My joy supreme in light or dark
Is to love the inner child
Who grew from the fierce and wild
To become a solemn man with an inner spark!
<>
The inner child who first discovered
The joy of knowing
By a candle glowing
To reveal a book over which he hovered.
<>
Through many worlds I traversed
Like the kids who alight
And make my world bright
With an imagination unrehearsed.
<>
I am their guardian, you see,
A totem wooden
Who holds the good in
And imagines them forever free.

I can appreciate that you found the hopefulness that eluded me when I saw this scene.
WOW! This was gorgeous and uplifting! 💖'd it! Go CRB! 💪🏾
Wonderful poem, a sort of Dream of the Hermit. I like the idea of the obsessive pursuit of knowledge with a dream of sharing it to set it free. That wooden totem does look like a miserable old bugger, though,
Amazing poem, good luck in the challenge!
What a great take on the challenge. Well done.
You were quick! A very charming and a warm message C. Rommial.
Fantastic poem, Rommi! Such a sage narrative voice! Especially impressed by "to love the inner child, Who grew from the fierce and wild, To become a solemn man with an inner spark" Well done!
Awww, he's so nice! Loved your take on this!
I could see the sculpture almost speaking these words. Great work.
Excellent take on the prompt 😁
Wow, Charles. This is gorgeous
Whimsical and thoughtful, just like the subject matter.
Whew! What a lovely morning meditation. I get the soul of the wooden man, embracing the children and his inner himself. It's your wandering soul I see here. A beaut made of wood. Cheers!!!
