The Grip and the Break: Intrusive Thoughts
A Journey Through the Cycles of OCD and Resilience
Wake up, energy charged, ready to soar,
Todayâs the day Iâll break down doors.
But waitâwhatâs that? A creeping dreadâ
Intrusive thought! It fills my head.
The wheels of my mind are stuck in grime,
Each turn drags like borrowed time.
âStop and think, or youâll face regret!â
A voice that tightens every step.
Analyze! Solve! The stakes are high,
Equations loom, do or die.
A tangled web, no end in sight,
Each problem pulls, each wrong feels right.
Eyes locked on a single spot,
The world narrowsâfreedom forgot.
Intrusive thought! It whispers, deceives,
Promises ruin if I donât believe.
And yet, beneath this storm, I see:
Your power fades the more Iâm free.
You drain my strength, but not my will,
Each fall I take, Iâm climbing still.
Intrusive thought, your reign is done,
Your empty threats? I trust none.
Through tangled paths, I find my light,
Unyielding, steady, I own the fight.

Oh my, this was extremely powerful and it packed a punch! Loved your poem!
Damn! Another spot on poem from you! With my ADD brain, I find your words highly relatableâ and your take inspiring. Your word choice is on point throughout, but Iâm especially impressed by the rhythm here. Thatâs one thing I canât seem to wrap my head around in my own writing, so when I see it in others I have to let people know! The pacing and rhythm youâve struck here actually feels like the internal strain between intrusive thoughts and the attempt to focus and be productive! Awesome, excellent job :)
