Million Shades of Green
Grey they say
Hazel or green
Purity as the forest
Vibrates from your
Eyes in growth
Toddle and swoon
Looking outward
Changes in shades
As the path clears
To an open heart
Together the hills
The pathways and streams
The books and smells
Of earthworms and cut grass
Brings you closer
Filthy, worn and cut
A pair of old shoes
Well-travelled and bright
Earthy and forgiven
For all the trodden
Piercing the sun
The color radiates deeper
Brighter abundant and clear
The 3 become one
Binding into new
A sense of belonging
Of roots spreading forth
As you gaze upward
To the majestic
Million shades of green
