The good old days

Before mobile phones

The good old days

When telephones were wired to the wall,

Life felt simpler, a quieter call.

Kids ran free, no need to text,

Their world was free, not stuck in a text.

They played outside, under skies so wide,

Laughter echoed, no place to hide.

Now, with mobiles, they’re glued and still,

Their faces lit by a glowing thrill.

A world of screens, so close, so far,

The outdoors forgotten, a hidden star.

Yet sometimes, I long for those days,

When life was lived in sunlit rays.

They even take the mobiles to school and to bed,

How I wish the plug-in telephones weren’t dead.

Life was fun years ago, children where so free

With tiktok and texting, they need to see

A better life awaits for the out there

Every day mobiles ruins their sight.

Daft Mobiles with screens so bright

I was a child of the 70's and after chores and homework it was out of doors playing with friends riding bikes or something. Thanks for the memories and good job.

Excellent! Growing up in the 90's I feel like I got the best of both worlds. Yet I always have nostalgia for the pre-digital days, well done!
