There was a girl
A happy girl
She had lots of friends
Friends that would worry
The daily question would be
"Are You Okay."
The girl would force the smile on her face
And responds with the classic line
"I'm fine."
Masking with a happy persona
She tries to hide her face with her silky raven hair
However, there's one thing she didn't know.
The people who knew her
The people who cared for her.
And the people who've been with her through thick and thin
Knew that it was a lie.
But they weren't certain of what was happening.
Quite a few other things she didn't know
Everyone admired her
Some were jealous of her.
Everyone wanted to be her
People had wished they were her
Just like a flower
She was fragile and beautiful.
She had a smile
A unique smile that would light up everyone's world
The sun outside couldn't compare
But behind doors, the flower would slowly wilt.
Her smile would disappear
Her face hurt from smiling so much
But internally, she was hurting.
Her chest felt heavy
She felt like she was holding back a lump in her throat.
The heavy feeling in her chest got heavier and heavier
In her mind she thought about everything.
The bullies, that degraded her self worth to nothing.
They succeeded, she felt like nothing.
She felt like she was just another body in this world
That everyone overshadowed her.
She thought about the first boy she and ever loved
The one who she truly felt something for
The one who would make her heart skip a beat
Her heart would always feel like it's leaping
The butterflies would flutter in her stomach.
Then one day
It was all gone.
The warm feelings she would feel
The way her heart felt so...happy.
The feeling was long gone now
And all she felt now was a void
She felt numb.
But no one knew that.
No one really knew what she was going through.
They could only look at her externally
They had no clue on how she felt internally.
No one.
The girl gets off the bus and says goodbye to her friends.
Everyone was oblivious.
They had no idea that it would be the last day they laid eyes on her.
No one knew that the warm goodbye she gave
Would be the last goodbye they would get from her.
The flower is no longer.
Because no one nurtured it.
