The Girl By The River Bank And The Sailor.

A Tale Of Love And Longing.

By Chris Liberty Published 8 months ago 1 min read

She lived by the river, so gentle and wide,
where birds sang sweet and the moon would hide.
With feet in the water and dreams in her eyes,
she watched the wind carry clouds through the skies.

Her days were soft, her nights were still,
with parents kind and hearts to fill.
But then he came,a sailor bold,
with tales of stars and oceans cold.

His voice was deep, his laugh so free,
like the sound of waves upon the sea.
He held her hand beneath the moon,
and promised he'd be coming soon.

But tides must turn, and ships must go,
he left her heart in the river's flow.
She waits each dusk, where the wild reeds sway,
hoping love will sail her way.

Though far he roams on waters deep,
her love is strong, her vow she keeps.
The girl by the river still dreams of the sea.
