I lie under the towering Jacaranda
Face tilted towards the sleeping stars
Marvelling at the gentleness of silence
Relishing the gift I got from looking in the mirror
And holding out forgiveness as an offering
The world fit into my hands easier
Once I stopped blaming myself for every goodbye

Powerful words eloquently expressed, Poppy, which strike to the heart of what so many of us need to find.
Your writing is so soft in this and I love how well it highlights the gentle beauty of silence. Wonderful writing!
I love your thoughts on this especially this line: "Once I stopped blaming myself for every goodbye" Impactful~
I like how you go from looking outwards, concentrating on the beauty of what you see and its timelessness and then how you turn it into looking inwards, seeing that beauty in yourself through the mirror and offering yourself forgiveness. We're not always the cause of things to breakdown. I like the kindness towards oneself you extend here.
oooh, this is poignant and very touching, wonderful, Poppy!
Omgggg, that last line hit me so hard. I truly gotta learn to do that. Loved your poem!
Soft, reflective, and beautifully peaceful. Thereβs a quiet strength in self-forgiveness, and this captures it perfectly.
When the world is too noisy, silence is all we need!!! Love your poem, Poppy!!!β€οΈβ€οΈπ
Omg Poppy, new favorite alert! Plus also, everything Paul said. π
Love your expression π
This... this is the perfect example of what you do best... artistically it is beautiful but the emotion comes through so strongly too! poetic genius with a beating heart!
The last three lines really hit for me. I felt the relief of letting go/working through emotional burdens.
Wow! A gorgeous poem, title and image. Like Alexander said, I love it all πβ
Silence is beautiful. Wonderful job, especially on the final two lines
I love silence just me and my own voice β¦οΈβ¦οΈβ¦οΈβ¦οΈβ¦οΈ
Silence can be so healing <3
Oh my. I'd love to say that every line of this is a favourite, and that to pick one would only be to repeat the poem back to you. And that is true, so far as it goes. But! "Face tilted towards the sleeping stars" spoke right to the boy who lives in my heart, sitting by a campfire, watching the stars spin overhead :) Beautifully done Poppy!
Sometimes we need that silence
