THE GENERAL
He opened his eyes and with a sigh, surveyed the far stretched land
Many men would die today by orders from his hand
The women and the children too would not escape the fate
For in a war when life is lost, it won’t discriminate
He mustered troops, and orders gave ,with a heavy heart
He knew he must continue this, he had to play his part
People died, they writhed and screamed
he saw them in his dreams
His enemy’s would also see, the blood from the machine
He had to make the first move you see
Before light spread across this land
For If he didn’t attack first, he’d die by enemy hands
They were all working for someone, a so called higher power
The big fat corporate cats that sat in ivory towers
In war you see, you had to be , very very clever
Would either side gain from this, no absolutely never
Both armies they would lose their men, and their families too
And no matter if he won this war, someone controls him too
They lure you in with promises, of a better land
Freedom for the people, but what no one understands
Is they just want their dirty work, done with others hands
The general looked down on his troops, and with a solemn frown
Ordered them to march upon the nearest enemy town
Guns they fired, people screamed, some the general knew
But there’s no time here for emotions, in a war this is so true
We thieve, we lie, we kill and break, the spirit of this land
Again today the people die from the generals hand
He fired his gun, and screamed a cry of a man without a heart
Little did they know the thoughts, that echoed in the dark
