The Garden of Earthly Delights

Poem Inspired by the Dutch painter Hieronymus Bosch

By Sophie Deanna PearnPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

The Garden of Earthly Delights is a poem written, recorded and produced by me.

The poem is inspired by my favourite painting of the same name by Hieronymus Bosch. As well as my love of nature, Greek Mythology and storytelling.

I have been interested in experimenting with different forms of poetry for a while now. It was a joy to stretch my creativity and blend images I had taken with spoken word.

In the Garden of Earthy Delights, leaves whisper

Ancient trees as wise as gods cradle the earths ceiling

The oil slick oak is the oldest secret keeper

Zeus gifts the clouds with thunder

Hera kisses the roots with gold

Branches bend to where the light glows

A tree is home to many stories told

In the garden of earthly delights, leaves whisper.

Paradise never lost when it grows.

In hell they saw the trunks for fire

Only the gods know the wisdom trees hold
