The Full Spectrum

Inspired by friendship and the sea

By Sydney FuriePublished 5 years ago 1 min read

Mother ocean

From your peaceful depths

My substance was born

Nacre

Pearl white with an iridescent stripe

The full spectrum of the rainbow

I adorn myself with your beauty

Bubbles burst from the depths of my soul

Into cerulean sea glass dangling from my ears

Just as your deep vents give life

To vibrant coral reefs

They permeate my being

I wear you proudly

Creator of my essence

Who so kindly let me live within her waters

You allowed me to swim, dive, and even sink

But you always delivered me safely

Onto soft sands

Be they pink, black, golden, or white

I’ve been lucky enough

To see them all

Through your waters

The great connectors

I’ve been lucky to live among many of your kin

But because I was born from within you

The beauty of moving on

I flow like your tides

To feel

The cool waters

Yet unknown to me

To catch the soft glint of other pearls

Daughters of your wisdom

As I travel beneath the sea

Though I appear pearly white,

I was born from the black depths

Of love you harbor

My life is the spectrum

My love is the wave

The full range

And it is why I keep you near my heart

Opening connection

To those around me
