Why wait for the next life to be a bird?

Why wait for the next life to be a bird

When you already

Have wings that

Can set you free

Pearl white

Scraped from the oceans depths

A circle around the globe

Resting on my chest

Warmed by the sun and engulfed by my skin

It’s iridescent line

A reminder of your soul

Crashing into mine

Two worlds collide

Into a sleepless night

And a hasty goodbye

A friend for life who never left my side

You’re on another shore now

Far, far away

But the prism glint from beyond

Still makes me wait

A constant reminder

To stay

To appreciate

The spectrum of light that united our ways

Black ocean water passes through pastel sunrises

Encapsulated in this droplet

Forever with me

From absence to every bit
