The Fortress Within
In Silence, Strength and Safety Abide
In silence, there’s a fortress strong,
Where words don’t spill, and hearts belong.
The open ones, who freely share,
Invite the world to strip them bare.
For every smile, there lies a cost,
In trust, some battles will be lost.
The world is quick to seek a flaw,
And turn your kindness into law.
But those who keep their secrets tight,
Who guard their hearts and speak in light,
Will find a strength that can’t be swayed,
A shield from games that others played.
To be reserved is not to fear,
But rather know what to hold dear.
For those who offer all they feel,
Invite a wound that time won’t heal.
So build your walls, and keep them high,
For only fools will wonder why.
The quiet mind, the careful heart,
Is safest when it stands apart.
