Recall the present, and those who are. --Michelle Liew

*************************************************************

They say Feburary once held fire,

Chasing away darkness with warmth.

Now, the sidewalks are bare,

The torches snuffed.

*************************************************************

Mavis recalls it,

Her father's hand in hers,

A tight grip

The fire cracking within,

A promise warm--but empty.

*************************************************************

Years pass,

The hearth stands cold

Its silence louder than past flames.

*************************************************************

The dead recalled,

The living--ignored.
