Alice's Snowstorm
Poetry on Releasing Burdens
This is for Mikeydred's Feburary prompt.
Some burdens should be buried--before they do.
************************************************************
Now Feburary's storm was no visitor--
It was a leech,
Wrapping his cold fingers around the hinge
Clogging the path he'd never clear.
************************************************************
The next day came,
Yet did not leave,
Snowdrifts rose, icy barricades.
The door shut, frozen.
The world shrank into icy regret.
************************************************************
Alice should have shoveled on the first day.
Should have fought the storm when she could
It now owned her--
Claiming her in its patient grip.
************************************************************
By March, they discovered her house,
Still upright,
Within only an echo remained.
************************************************************
Outside, the snow piled--
A cold cover.

Very good!❤️
Emotionally deep, hard hitting & very well-written!
That feeling of regret sucks so bad. Loved your poem!
Gorgeous! I love the cold, icy exterior you create with your language here.
