A humorous poem inspired by a reoccurring dream

Running late

Can't find class

Unfamiliar halls

room numbers are out of order

and they don't make much sense

Everyone is laughing

My high school crush is laughing too

A joke I had somehow missed?

No, I think they're laughing at me

After many turns down

never ending, unfamiliar halls

I finally find my class

Math class

The moment I step into class

I already know I'm late

The second I sit down, the teacher hands me an exam

An exam I knew nothing about!

Formulas I don't recognize

Not knowing the slightest how to solve!

The timer starts, the exam begins!

Not knowing the answers in the slightest

I can only write what comes to mind

Pencil ready to write, freshly sharpened

But lead breaks off instead

I try again

Pencil lead breaks off yet again

The timer goes off

The exam is over

Didn't even make it past the first problem

Looks like I failed that exam!

This humorous poem was inspired by a reoccurring dream I have about finding myself in high school only to discover there's an exam I knew nothing about.
